Articles Needed: The Divine

Work on Issue 7 is underway while Sherm wraps up layout on Escalation Special 2. Going through the submissions that we've received thus far, I noticed that we still had a few gaps.

  • What celestial beings inhabit your version of the Dragon Empire? As Christopher LaHaise put it: "I want to see those angels and archons and daevas and such, how they tick, how they can act as protagonists and antagonists, how they can provide aid to heroes like the demons and devils can aid enemies."
  • Have you created a pantheon for your Dragon Empire? What deities are in it? How do they interact with the icons? Do you use them in addition to the icons? As substitutes? Note: Please don't use the names of deities from other games' intellectual property.
  • Are you a Glorantha expert? Much of the 13th Age community is just starting to learn about the setting. What can you tell us about the divine in Glorantha what wasn't already included in 13G?

Take a look at the link at the top right corner of the page for submission guidelines and contact information.  Please spread the word and help us create an issue that will be praised from the Overworld!

  1. I have a pantheon of nine gods within my 13th age game, one for each alignment they each have 3 icons who fits with there domains and powers Currently having fun using book of ages, using stuff from ages past but my game is at the high end 9th level characters so waiting till I end tht arc before establishing a new timeline.

    1. Sounds like fun! So does that mean there are 9 * 3 = 27 icons in your setting? Did I understand that right? How do you narrow down the number of icons that influence the plot? Did you let the players pick their icon relationships from the large list and then use those icons to drive the story?

Are you interested in sharing your deities and their icons in an Escalation article? If so, please drop me an email. Thanks!

  2. Tossing this out, but are you interested in concepts/outlines for Clerical Rituals? Knowing the players can be free form in play I find there's a lot to be said for a sheet of "here are the rituals you would have learned at seminary (or whatever)" flavored for a handful of existing orders, sects or cults. Mostly by way of adding flavor and suggesting side quests.

    1. That sounds great. Do you think you could have that to us by mid-April?
